Cairns Mens Group and Common Ground Something a little aside from Neil's Organics for one of his other passions, Neil is working with Men's groups, Men's gatherings, and courses to help and support men understand and be comfortable with the challenges that confront modern day men.Neil and other Men from Cairns have been working with other men from a not-for-profit organisation called Men's Wellbeing of Queensland, based in Brisbane. A group of nine men have just finished Common Ground, held in Cairns, the first one of many courses run by an experienced facilitator from Men's Wellbeing. This is a course which ran for two weekends starting Friday night and finishing Sunday afternoon covering nine different areas from how to run a men's group, to manhood, fathers, communications and lots more. All of the men who attended expressed how powerful the course was and have committed to continuing to meet on a regular basis. It was a great and rewarding experience. This course follows on from the very successful inaugural Cairns Men's gathering called Open Ground. This was held at Djarrugan Farm in the Goldsbrough Valley in August 2009 with 55 men attending. Some visitors came from as far away as Brisbane to support and help facilitate the first, but definitely not the last, Cairns Men's gathering. There are now three Men' Groups in Cairns, two of which have been meeting every Wednesday night for almost 3 years now, and the a new group which meets fortnightly. These group are not religious and non political. They are men who enjoy the benefits meeting regularly with other men being mentors, students, and supporting each other through their ups and downs in a safe caring environment. The aim is to create an every-growing network of men who care about each other and the community, and to be positive role-models for other men of all ages. If you would like to become involved or like more information about the Cairns Mens Groups please speak with Neil or Anthony at Neil's Organics. It has now been twelve months since Neil became a life coach. He has been doing this in his spare time so if you would like some coaching the first session is free. Please give him a call on 0417 625 236 for more information. |
