As a result of the continued use of artificial fertilisers and chemical sprays, some Australian farm produce shows concerning levels of chemical residues. This may threaten the health and well being of humans, animals and the environment. The Biological Farmers of Australia (Bio-Farm) is aware of the urgency for a change in direction of these agricultural practices. Organic and biodynamic farming methods are now widely accepted and overcome the need for undesireable chemicals. By buying Bio Farm Certified Products, you are assisting:
And you can be sure:
What is BFA Certified? Bio Farm certification covers both organic and bio dynamic production and is recognised by the Australian Government through the Organic Producers Advisory Committee (OPAC) which maintains organic standards to international levels. What is BFA Certified 'A' Organic Certfied 'A' or Bio Dynamic Certified 'A' Produced to BIO FARM organic or bio dynamic production standards. No artificial fertilisers or chemicals such as synthesised weedicides, pesticide, fumigants or growth promotants are used. A sound organic or bio dynamic farming system is used. What is BFA Certified 'B' Organic Certfied 'B' or Bio Dynamic Certified 'B' Organic or bio dynamic farming methods are being practised, but as yet not to all the requirements for certified 'A' classification. No artificial fertilisers or chemicals are used. The regenerative farming system is at a development stage.
Product tissue testing, not soil testing is carried out prior to Bio Farm certification. Through their root system some plants have the ability to absorb residue from chemicals used in the past and locked within the soil. These inherent problems plus any recent chemical use or spray drift are revealed in product with tissue testing, but may not show with soil testing. All testing is by NATA registered laboratories and tested to the lowest detectable limit.
